He knew he should head back, that if storm was rolling in his clan might need him. However, one look to the sky, open above him, and he knew that he would never make it in time, not without getting hurt himself and then being useless. Sure, he was reckless, but he wasn't stupid.
The white and orange tom flicked his ears, a small smile creasing onto his face as he slid into the waters. Even his clanmates thought his love for water was a little strange, and they were seaclan cats. Then again, the water soaked right into their skin, and they didn't have the fat insulation and the second layer of fur he did. As the lightning played tricks on his eyes, he lazily stroked through the waters, perfectly at home in the midst of the wind and the danger of falling trees. For a moment, he ducked his head under water, swimming just along the bottom, bursting his head up a few moments later.
He had to be careful; although he loved this stream, it drifted along the moonlit clearing and continued across into skyclan, and he couldn't accidentally slip down that river and into their territory. He was a warrior, after all, and an important one at that. The deputy had to provide a good example. He stopped paddling a moment to think.
Deputy.
He still rolled the though around in his head regularly. It had only happened seven sunrises ago. He'd been counting. To avoid the current taking control, he began to swim again, circling lazily as the storm raged overhead, perfectly at home in the midst of a storm and in water.

| | [atrb=background,http://i775.photobucket.com/albums/yy35/BaileeDanielle3/tables/maple4.png][scrolly:h(99),w(315),sy] NONE of the cats of skyclan were surprised when their deputy left camp, heading out further into the territory. of course, she hadn't left without telling them, she was very important to the clan, and she knew they would wonder where she was if she just snuck out. the entire clan knew that like all turkish vans, such as maplefall was, loved water. they probably would have known anyways. the storm was the perfect chance for her to enjoy the cold rain. the soothing sound of the rolling thunder. the beauty of the dancing lightning.
AND the almost all-white she-cat would enjoy it at her favorite place- near the river. slinking between a couple trees, maples, just like her, she lifted her head to stare at them curiously. they were some of the few trees in the territory, it was weird seeing them, no matter how many times she passed them daily.
MAPLEFALL'S head returned to it's former position, bowed down, paws slowly stepping one after another. her tail stuck out behind her, just above the ground, looking like a banner attached to her mostly white body. her speckled ears perked, mouth parted to taste the air as she approached the river.
THERE was another cat there, a seaclanner, and she wasn't surprised. he was on his side of the river, though he appeared to be in it. curiosity pricked at her like a thorn, amber eyes locked on the male cat as he swam in the river. he looked similar to her. a turkish van as well it appeared. how interesting.
RECLINING on her haunches, the turkish van she-cat sat up straight, listening to the storm, her tail wrapped around her forepaws. she just waited. waited for this other cat to acknowledge her. she recognized him, but she couldn't quite place his name.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [atrb=background,http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z431/poshiloh/Children%20of%20the%20Stars/text-1.png][scrolly:h(114),w(456),sy] Orange-tinged ears flickered at the sound of pawsteps on the shore, the side of Skyclan, down just past the small edge of open land, the Moonlit Clearing where, in such a short time, he would become the center of attention for a moment as his new position was announced. And yet, although he was proud to be deputy, he feared that moment. The thought of so many cats looking to him, congratulating him on the back of another's death... It didn't seem right and left him shaking in his silky-furred paws. But, the sound. He'd almost forgotten it.
He pulled himself out of the river, the water running off his fur like it would off a rock or a leaf, a special trait gifted to all turkish vans. He still shook his head a bit, getting water out of his ears. Only then did he look around. When he spotted her, he froze. He had seen her before; of course he had, she was the deputy of skyclan for starclan's sake! But he'd never really paid attention to her or anyone else at the gatherings, slipping between and offering greetings to far too many to actually remember them. But, there she was, clear as day, and the most startling part was she was like him. Just like him. Longer fur that he, from here, could tell held the same surreal, soft texture as his, the slight puff it gained from the shorter coat of fur beneath it. The dashes of colors on a coat the color of fresh-fallen snow. He was left speechless for only a moment.
Finally managing to gather his wits, he turned his full body towards her, dipping his head in a sign of respect, though it only stayed down for a brief moment before it raised again. They were on an equal level now, no point making an extreme show of respect anymore. He moved closer, not crossing onto her territory, but close enough he wouldn't have to yell to be heard. He didn't like to yell.
Good day, Maplefall.

| | [atrb=background,http://i775.photobucket.com/albums/yy35/BaileeDanielle3/tables/maple4.png][scrolly:h(99),w(315),sy] MAPLEFALL felt a twinge of excitement stir up in her chest- just because the other cat had spoken to her. he seemed so much different now than when she had seen him at gatherings before. it made her wonder how she never learned his name when she had seen him more than once. any cat that was similar to she seemed to catch her eye, yet, there wasn't many in the clans.
TAIL unwrapping from her paws, it lashed slowly back and forth, as she contemplated what to say. it was a horrid feeling, when someone remembered your name, and you could not recall their's... especially when you were the deputy of a clan yourself and they had just been named one recently. she must have been too busy discussing matters with another cat. she wouldn't be surprised- she was always chatting.
'I'M sorry, you'll have to forgive me- i've forgotten your name,' the calico speckled white she-cat spoke, standing once more. it was clear she was antsy when she couldn't move a lot, she was already sitting down once again- as if the deputy couldn't decide.
THOSE amber eyes of hers focused on the sky and the drops of rain that were starting to pour down. he right ear flicked, not disliking the sudden rain, but figuring they did not need it at the moment. everything felt too wet.

He took a moment to smooth a puff of fur, rather suddenly, then took a few more steps forward before settling comfortable on the wet ground.
Stormchaser, the crazy one.
He replied with a small grin, not caring that it was his unofficial title. In fact, he rather enjoyed it. It gave him a little more freedom to do what he wanted, even if it was a little unorthodox or unexpected. It was only then he finished smoothing his fur down again, taking a few moments before looking back up to her.
I hardly expected you to remember me. I was just a warrior until a few sunrises ago, after all, and from a different clan. You had little reason to.
He continued, feeling like explaining his soft chuckles and amusement, to hopefully make her eel a little better about having not remembered him. It wasn't too much of a shame, really. What would have been truly terrible would be her not remember her own clanmate; there would probably be reason to worry and send her to the medicine cat for that one.
