brightkit
IF I MAKE A MOVE, IF I MAKE A MOVE,
I'LL DESTROY IT ALL, I'LL DESTROY IT ALL.
IF I GRIEVE, IF I GRIEVE,
WOULD MY HEART TURN TO WHITE?
I STILL KNOW NOTHING ABOUT YOU, NOTHING ABOUT MYSELF,
NOTHING ABOUT ANYTHING AT ALL.
IF OPENING MY HEAVY EYELIDS MEANS I'LL DESTROY EVERYTHING,
THEN LET IT ALL TURN TO BLACK.
NAME... brightkit
AGE... five moons
GENDER... female
CLAN... stormclan
POSITION... kit
APPEARANCE...A tiny mouse, or a tiny lion; it’s up to those around her to decide. But never the less, it is certain that Brightkit is tiny. Half the size of her siblings, Brightkit looks like a fragile little flower. An orange rose covered in snow, and yet that is only an illusion.
As a mouse, she is tiny and innocent. Dainty in figure, Brightkit will certainly be a looker as she grows older, always being half the size of any cat in the Clan, most of the males will lean toward protecting her, while females lean toward annoyance. Long legs ending in dainty paws will allow to jump into the trees, the hint of SkyClan’s ancient bloodline shifting through her veins as she uses this to her advantage. In summer, she’ll have a hard time hiding from her prey, her pelt so out of place with the forest, yet in winter she may be one of the few that manage to actually find prey.
Brightkit has a long body, matching her legs, even if she is tiny. The fire colored stripe on her back to her tail tip, makes this even more obvious even if her tail wasn’t already a few inches longer than her body itself. The only thing that may be considered big about her, are her ears. Slightly larger than any other part of her, they almost seem out of place for the most part and yet seem to lend to the kittish look she will forever carry for her life.
But as a lion, all her frailty disappears. Within her body Brightkit holds a wiry strength, muscles that other cats rarely thinks she has do exist, and she uses them when she must. Most of her strength will be in jumping, using it to her advantage when she must as her pelt stands out so much, leading to a common theme between her and Falconkit, even if Falconkit will always be the better jumper. She’ll learn not just to jump with her hind legs, but with her forelegs as well, leading to powerful blows in the future.
Brightkit’s claws are sharper than some tend to realize, and can be easily unsheathed when she’s in a temper. Simply because she is so small, doesn’t mean she doesn’t have the claws to back up her fire. Her teeth are easily bared as well. One of the things that will become an asset to her in future battles, is her size. She will always be tiny, and thus can dodge and get away from most dangers, including dogs, being able to fit in smaller places than other cats. No wonder she tends to pop up unnoticed at times!
Her pelt’s base coat is pure snowy white, the same as her sister’s, Frostkit, yet what makes her different are her markings. The color of fire takes over part of her fur, her front paws covered in it, while the tips of her ears are as well. While her paws stay unattached to any other part of the fire, the fire on her ears travels down her spine, eventually becoming one line that travels all the to her tail tip, where it covers the snow. At the base of her back, it branches off onto her thighs and travels down to her back paws, where they are completely covered as much as the front paws. On her forehead is a fiery mark, so faint that one can hardly see it, yet it’s there and in the vague shape of a star.
Her eyes are icy blue, matching the color of snow on her pelt, while the icy fire that burns within them matches the fire on her pelt. Intelligent eyes that seem to know what the others are thinking, unnerving so that a cat doesn’t want to look into them. Brightkit’s paw pads are gray in color, matching her dark nose and proving once again, the ties StormClan has with SkyClan, no matter how many disputes there are.
PERSONALITY...To call her a kindness, is too bland and yet, to call her a terror, is too harsh. She resides somewhere in the middle, a kind little terror that finds herself indifferent to all those about her. She finds it hard to get along with other cats, so preoccupied by things whirling about her mind that it's hard for her to simply play with them. The things other cats do, confuse her to no end.
Brightkit cannot simply grasp the idea of not worrying, of not thinking always, all the time, finding herself lost in thought instead of romping about with her siblings. When asked, she simply looks confused, wondering why she should play at all. In this retrospect she has come to be known as a snob, but in truth she’s not. She’s just not interested in all those other things. Her own emotions are always in a confused whirl, hearing the elder’s stories she almost feels like she’s been some of them, actually correcting the elders are certain parts as a dream comes rushing back before disappearing again. Needless to say, the elders don’t appreciate her coming around for the stories much anymore, though she still likes to listen to them.
Mature far beyond her years Brightkit is usually the one the questions are directed toward in the nursery, instead of to the elder queens. She can almost always answer them, whether because she actually knows the information, or whether because it just slips out leaving Brightkit confused and dazed as a another cat seems to take over her mouth. Her intelligence, even if she didn’t have the strange dreams or odd moments when another seems to take her over, could be considered far beyond her years. If a human, she would be considered nearing the genius level, perhaps already skipping a couple of grade levels. She certainly seems to need that in the Clan.
The battle moves and apprentice training does not escape her notice, she can see the problems wrong with the moves the apprentice do, and even some warriors, but that information comes in a dream and by intuition. Intuition by itself to Brightkit, is not satisfactory to be able to correct an apprentice older that her, much less a warrior, though sometimes she feels like the elder.
In terms of intuition, she listens to it. Though she has a mind to work with, she finds that if she simply listens to her instincts, the situation more than likely turns out in her favor. Her mind may be telling her, logically, that something won’t work, while her intuition(she doesn’t dare think that her heart has anything to do with it), tells her it will turn out fine. Her intuition takes her places, but her mind comprehends those places.
In her belief of Starclan, she is slightly skeptical, it’s true, but something within her always speaks that StarClan does exist, that it is there whether she can see them or not. She listens to that part, even if she rarely finds herself in awe of them, rarely falling back on the wisdom of her ancestors. True, it may be a bit arrogant of her, but she feels as though they’ve lost one of their most important pieces. In her opinion and experience anyway.
Brighkit has a hard time seeing that she can be wrong, almost always right most of the time; it’s hard for her to comprehend. A fact she thought as true may be a lie, or something she said may be wrong. She becomes indignant, stalking away to sulk for a bit or simply hissing under her breath trying to find out where she went wrong. In matters of the heart, she is certainly almost always wrong. Emotions for her, within her own breast, are confused and whirling about in a horrendous storm, so how could she possibly understand those of others?
Her temper is something to behold, though she rarely finds herself more than ‘vexed’ as she likes to say, when she snaps she’s likely she hiss and yowl at everything that comes her way. The claws come unsheathed and she has no problem pointing out the faults of certain cats, showing them exactly how wrong they are. As she grows, her temper flares will become slightly quieter; her yowling disappearing instead taken up by more growls and hisses.
Brightkit’s smile is rare, but it’s a sight to behold lighting up her entire face, the harshness of her blank gaze gone in simple up turn of her maw. She’ll always have a soft spot for younger cats, for whatever reason she doesn’t know, but she prefers their company over the elder cats at time. One of the reasons she holds her siblings so dear to her heart.
HISTORY...Brighkit was born at the exact time as the ancient prophecy states, and yet how could her parents know that? How could they even think of that when she was so tiny compared to her siblings. When Brightkit was born, it was immediately assumed she would die. Half the size of her siblings, there was little hope, yet her mother Bluevine kept the tiny kit close during that night and sent a pray to StarClan. In the morning, all the queens were shocked to see the tiny kit still alive, and not only that, but bullying her siblings away from the choice spot next to mom! Bluevine sent a fervent thanks to StarClan, before separating Brightkit from her two sisters. That day they were all named.
Darkheart was proud to see his tiniest daughter winning out over the other two, naming her Brightkit for the fire that she seemed to hold. Brightkit’s brother was named Frostkit for his pelt, her sister named Rosekit for her sweetness and prickliness. So her life began, yet it was not long before she was plagued by dreams and nightmares, confusion and depression. She rarely played with any of the other kits, preferring to stay with her mother or visit the medicine cat. Her dreams have the tendency to leave her as soon as they come, almost like long lost memories that slip from her claws as quickly as she can hold them. Things she shouldn’t know, she does. Things she should be doing, she doesn’t. At times she finds herself organizing patrols in her mind, with different cat’s name, about to turn to say something to her deputy before realizing she’s simply a kit. Yet that doesn’t stop her from confusing the other cats in the Clan with another cat in her mind, calling Grayheart, Whitefeather and asking how the kits, Robinkit, and Stormkit, are before realizing she has the completely wrong cat. Needless to say, Brightkit is very, very confused.
